Double Your Support of These Non-Profits (& More!) When You Shop March 11-17th

Every Buffalo shopper knows that, instead of getting a single-use plastic bag with your purchase, you receive a 5¢ token that you can donate to one of three local non-profits. This Tokens for Bags® program has raised over $926,025 for thousands of local charities since it started in 1994. So, in honor of Buffalo’s 50th anniversary we’re doing something extra special for the week of March 11-17th – doubling those tokens. Choose two non-profits to support or double down on your favorite choice! Throughout 2024, we’re giving back to each community we’re apart of with 50 Acts of Kindness – and this is our 10th act. As an added bonus, our 50th Anniversary Pop-Up Shop will be taking place on March 16-17. Join in the fun, shop a curated selection of Buffalo finds and drop a token (or two) in support of marine mammals, wild salmon and more amazing organizations like the ones below!

The Marine Mammal Center

Help our friends under the sea just by shopping at BE San Francisco (Haight St)! The Marine Mammal Center advances ocean conservation through the rescue and rehabilitation of seals, sea lions, sea otters, dolphins and more! Since 1975, they have rescued more than 24,000 marine mammals and now serve as the largest marine mammal hospital in the world, responding to an average of 1,800 callouts per year. Check out some of their adorable recent patients, then stop by BE Haight St to show your support!

Stupid Cancer

Stupid Cancer exists to make cancer suck a little less, working to end the isolation and empower those affected by adolescent and young adult cancer. This incredible org builds community through meetups, online discussions, open mic nights & more! Donate to them just by shopping at BE New York – Noho. Save Our Wild Salmon

Passionate about the environment? So is Save Our Wild Salmon! This coalition works to protect and restore the wild salmon population in the waters of the Pacific Northwest. For over 25 years they’ve been educating the public and advocating for policies that wild salmon and steelhead need in order to recover. Help give them a boost when you shop at BE Spokane

Red Door Animal Shelter

The Red Door Animal Shelter is a unique no-kill, multi-species shelter! Their goal is to promote respect for animals through their education, rescue, shelter and adoption services. They focus mainly on cats, dogs and rabbits, which are the three most popular species of pets in the United States. Check out some of their fluffy friends that are currently looking for their forever homes, or support them by shopping at BE Chicago Andersonville

Alexandria House

At the brand new BE Pasadena location, you can show some love to Alexandria House. Founded in 1996, Alexandria House serves as a transitional house for people experiencing homelessness. Their focus is on providing safe housing to women and children who are moving to permanent homes and educational opportunities for their residents. They continue this work even after residents move on, providing support that empowers them to remain in their new homes. Stop by to check out the newest addition to the Buffalo family and show your support for this amazing organization!

These non-profits are just the beginning! Each Buffalo Exchange store supports three different orgs at a time, so check out which ones your local Buffalo is working with currently and stop by to show them some love. Then, don’t forget to double that love from March 11-17th!
