October Acts of Kindness

What a busy month of being kind! We started October with a week-long Tokens for Bags® boost where all token donations were doubled nationwide. Then, BE Austin (SoCo) hosted a donation drive to help the animals at Austin Pets Alive live long and healthy lives. BE Fullerton donated to The Ecology Center, a regenerative farm that’s bringing culture to agriculture in Southern California. Over at BE Minneapolis, the team collected food and toys for animals in need at Twin Cities Pet Rescue. We ended the month by hosting a shopping event at BE Eugene, which benefited The Eugene Parks Foundation and their work maintaining local trails and parks. Keep reading for more info on these Acts of Kindness!

Kindness Act #39: Doubled Tokens for Bags® at all Buffalo Exchange Stores

Every Buffalo Exchange shopper knows that instead of getting a single-use plastic bag with your purchase, we offer you a 5¢ token to donate to one of three local non-profits in your area. Since our Tokens for Bags® program started in 1994, we’ve raised over $962,840 for thousands of organizations and saved more than 19.2 million plastic bags from polluting the planet. To kick off this month’s Acts of Kindness, Buffalo Exchange stores across the country showed their communities some extra love by offering those tokens to sellers, too! Get to know a few of the non-profits customers supported by shopping, selling or both! (Warning: cute animals ahead. 🐶)

Kindness Act #40: Donations at BE Austin (SoCo) for Austin Pets Alive

BE Austin (SoCo) helped local cats and dogs by hosting a donation drive for Austin Pets Alive! This is not your average animal shelter – APA has pioneered comprehensive, innovative programs designed to save the animals most at risk for euthanasia. They champion the Austin No-Kill Model, using the data-driven protocols, programs and tools that make Austin the largest No-Kill city in the nation. Want to get involved? You can donate items from their online wishlist, or visit their website to learn more about adopting or fostering an animal in need.

Kindness Act #41: Supporting Regenerative Farming at BE Fullerton

BE Fullerton made a donation to The Ecology Center, a 28-acre Regenerative Organic Certified™ farm and education center that serves as a hub for southern California’s ecological movement. Since 2008, they’ve been on a mission to nourish and inspire the community with their vision of an ecological food future. Their fun seasonal festivals, culinary classes, and children’s programs have brought over 300,000 visitors to the farm and reached over 2,500 households in the area. Check out their upcoming events or grab a healthy bite at their Campesino Café!

Kindness Act #42: Donation Drive for Twin Cities Pet Rescue at BE Minneapolis

BE Minneapolis collected pet food, toys and supplies for animals in need at Twin Cities Pet Rescue. For the last 15 years, the nonprofit has been committed to rescuing animals in critical need and placing them in a stable forever home. Consider yourself an animal lover? They’re always looking for more helping hands! See how you can join their team of volunteers on their website.

Kindness Act #43: Shop for a Green Cause at BE Eugene

BE Eugene helped local parks, open spaces, and trails thrive by throwing a shopping event benefiting the Eugene Parks Foundation! This awesome organization is dedicated to bringing the community together through the local parks and recreation system. They help protect and preserve Eugene’s 130 public parks and 4,000 acres of natural areas, and are always looking for opportunities to create more accessible green spaces. Learn more about the work they’re doing to make their vision for a thriving Eugene a reality.
