June Acts of Kindness
We’re halfway through 2024 and that means we’ve completed 25 of the 50 Acts of Kindness! In June, we started with a donation drive at Buffalo Exchange Spokane for Transitions, supporting homeless women and children during critical times. Meanwhile, Buffalo Exchange Dallas donated pajamas, board books, and more to Foster Village DFW, taking a stand against poverty. Wrapping up the month, volunteers from Buffalo Exchange HQ visited the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, boxing over 2,000 food boxes for those in need! Keep reading to learn more about each act of kindness:
Kindness Act #23: Donation Drive for Transitions at BE Spokane
BE Spokane helped fight poverty and homelessness for the women and children of Spokane by holding a donation drive for Transitions! From June 10 through June 16, they collected high-need items like Lysol wipes, bottled water, disposable face masks, baby wipes and adult diapers, business attire, and winter clothing and accessories — a must-have for the PNW’s long cold-weather season. For decades, Transitions has been providing housing, job training, childcare and legal services through their many programs designed to support the community. Your donations will make a big impact in the lives of those who need them most!
Kindness Act #24: Supporting Children & Families in Foster Care at BE Dallas
Did you know that former foster youth account for roughly 50% of our homeless population? Foster Village DFW’s mission is to break that cycle by supporting those in the child welfare system when they need it most. Caring for the caregivers, the organization provides clothing, basic necessities, and even connects them to other foster families to show them that they’re not alone. BE Dallas did their part by donating items like pajamas, board books, and more! Want to help? You can do your part by purchasing items off their Amazon wishlist or volunteering to be part of their village of support.
Kindness Act #25: Volunteering at the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona
Buffalo Exchange HQ helped fight food insecurity by volunteering with the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona! The organization has been providing hunger relief since they started in Tucson in 1975 (one year after Buffalo Exchange opened its first location down the road), and has since grown to eight locations serving five counties in Southern AZ. The HQ team did their part to help by packing up emergency food boxes for families and seniors in need. Have a few extra hours on your hands this summer? Find out how you can get involved at CommunityFoodBank.org.
A huge thank you to those who contributed to giving back to those in need! Stay tuned for even more acts of kindness throughout 2024.
