September Acts of Kindness

As September comes to a close, our kindness continues! Here’s a quick recap: the month began with BE Richmond’s generous donation to HomeAgain, supporting those facing housing hardships. Next, BE Somerville hosted a shopping event for BAGLY, an organization dedicated to providing resources for the LGBTQ+ community. Shortly after, BE Nogales made a donation to the Kino Border Initiative, focused on improving the lives of migrants. To wrap up the month, BE Bellingham collected food and goods for the Bellingham Food Bank. Interested in learning more? Keep reading for the full scoop on September’s Acts of Kindness!

Kindness Act #35: Supporting HomeAgain with BE Richmond

Buffalo Exchange Richmond donated to HomeAgain, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those experiencing housing hardships to secure and maintain homes in Virginia. HomeAgain provides support in a variety of areas, from warm beds and healthy meals to learning and workforce resources for children and adults, rehousing services and more. With our help, HomeAgain is able to help end houselessness for over 400 households each year, getting them back on the road to stability. Want to be a part of the solution? Volunteer or donate today!

Kindness Act #36: Shopping for a BAGLY Cause with BE Somerville

Back east, BE Somerville in Boston supported local LGBTQ+ youth by hosting a shopping event for BAGLY, donating 10% of sales on September 15 from 5-7pm. BAGLY is a youth-led organization committed to social justice that works to create programs, policies and services for the LGBTQ+ community. If you’re in the Greater Boston Area, visit BAGLY’s website to find out how you can be a part of their amazing movement!

Kindness Act #37: Supporting Kino Border Initiative at Buffalo Outlet Nogales

Even our Outlet stores are getting in on the 50 Acts of Kindness! Buffalo Outlet Nogales donated to the Kino Border Initiative, an organization that provides humanitarian assistance to deported migrants in Nogales, Sonora while working towards creating a community where migrants are welcome and met with solidarity. Stay up to date with advancements in their mission on the Kino Border Initiative Instagram!

Kindness Act #38: Donation Drive for Bellingham Food Bank at BE Bellingham

Over in the Pacific Northwest, BE Bellingham collected donations of canned food, boxed milk and more non-perishable food items to help Bellingham Food Bank stock their pantries to combat local food insecurity. Each year, Bellingham Food Bank provides nutritious foods to over 5,000 households, aiding in the fight against hunger.

For our final September Act of Kindness, we supercharged our Tokens for Bags program: from September 30th through October 7th, sellers who brought in their closet cleanouts were eligible to receive a token to donate to the local nonprofit of their choice (for the first time EVER!) Since its beginning in 1994, Tokens for Bags has raised over $926,025 for thousands of local charities across the country.

Big thanks to all who’ve joined us so far on our journey of 50 Acts of Kindness. If you’re feeling the FOMO, stay tuned: we have more opportunities for you to join us in giving back throughout the rest of 2024!
