Buy a Tote, Plant a Tree! Buffalo Exchange Partnering with One Tree Planted

If you’ve shopped with Buffalo Exchange before, you’re more than likely familiar with our plastic-bagless policy: instead of offering single-use plastic bags, we give shoppers a 5-cent token to donate to one of three local organizations. In 2024, we’re going even further. To celebrate 50 years of fashion, we’re giving back to the community all year long with 50 Acts of Kindness. From January 15th through the 21st, we partnered with One Tree Planted to plant a tree for each reusable Buffalo Exchange tote bag purchased! Thanks to all of you, we planted 5,000 trees! P.S. Our reusable totes are made of 70% recycled bottles, making them a stylish and eco-friendly alternative to single-use plastic bags.

One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that is on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe and are done in partnership with local communities and environmental organizations to create an impact for nature, people and wildlife. Reforestation helps to restore forests that have been degraded by human activities or environmental disasters, provide jobs for social impact and restore biodiversity habitat. Many projects have overlapping objectives that contribute to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Since 2014, One Tree Planted has planted over 100 million trees in more than 80 countries and has more than doubled the number of trees planted each year.

Beyond their reforestation projects, One Tree Planted believes that engaging people who want to get their hands in the dirt is critical to raising environmental awareness. That is why they also organize volunteer events, offer educational materials, and provide ways for businesses to give back. By focusing on collaborative sustainability from the ground up, they hope to make a lasting and positive difference for the planet. Learn more at OneTreePlanted.org.
