It’s not a stretch to say this was one of our favorite Earth Day $1 Sales ever — THANK YOU to everyone who showed up to shop sustainably for an amazing cause. We couldn’t pull off this massive fashion fundraiser without you!

About the Sale

On April 18, the Saturday before Earth Day, excited sustainably-minded shoppers arrived bright and early to their local Buffalo Exchange stores to shop a special selection of clothes, shoes and accessories all priced at an unbelievable one dollar apiece. After a few short hours of secondhand fashion flurry, our iconic fundraiser raised $37,000 for Plastic Pollution Coalition (opens in new tab), one of the first orgs working to rid the world of plastic pollution and its toxic impacts while creating a more just, equitable and regenerative world for all!

If you’re unfamiliar, this year’s $1 Sale was far from our first: since the debut of the Earth Day $1 Sale in 1997, Buffalo Exchange has raised $919,103 for an awesome array of causes, including American Wild Horse Conservation (opens in new tab), Goats of Anarchy (opens in new tab), The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee (opens in new tab) and over a dozen other animal and environmentally-focused organizations.

Giving Back the Buffalo Way

Even though the Earth Day $1 Sale only happens once annually, we’re committed to giving back year-round: through our Tokens for Bags® program, you can support a variety of local charities just by skipping the plastic bag at checkout and dropping a 5-cent token — representing the cost of a plastic bag — into the donation box of your choice. In January, we reached a major milestone of one million dollars donated to thousands of nonprofits and over 20 million plastic bags kept out of the environment, all thanks to sustainable shoppers like you!

Didn’t Make It To The $1 Sale?

Don’t despair: we’ll be back with another incredible nonprofit to support at next year’s Earth Day $1 Sale! In the meantime, remember that Buffalo Exchange is the best destination for discovering preloved pieces you’ll wear for years to come. When you’re ready to update your look, keep it circular and bring your closet cleanout to Buffalo Exchange. The extra clothes sitting unworn in your wardrobe could become bonus cash to fund your hobbies or trade to spend on your next great find.
