Looking for Ways to Give Back? Support These 5 Nonprofits Just by Shopping at Buffalo Exchange
If you didn’t know, secondhand clothing is just one part of Buffalo Exchange’s commitment to sustainability! Instead of offering wasteful single-use plastic bags at checkout, Buffalo gives all of our customers a 5 cent token—representing the cost of a disposable bag—to donate to one of three local nonprofits benefiting animal, environmental and humanitarian causes. Since 1994, our Tokens for Bags® program has kept over 20 million plastic bags out of the environment and raised more than 1 million for thousands of local charities across the country. Check out just a few of the many great organizations we’re partnering with this season!

Community Action Partnership of Orange County
Can you envision a world filled with generations of healthy communities where poverty ceases to exist? That’s the real life goal for Community Action Partnership of Orange County, aka CAPOC (opens in new tab). When you shop at Buffalo Exchange Costa Mesa, your token donation could go towards CAPOC’s mission to end and prevent poverty by offering solutions for survival, family support, job training, educational services and advocacy for racial equity.
Groundwork Somerville
Since 2000, Groundwork Somerville (opens in new tab) has been building a healthier, greener and more equitable city through urban farming, youth leadership and community-driven advocacy! They work to sow the seeds of healthy community by empowering young people to cultivate a positive relationship with food and land. Join them in their mission of encouraging the next generation of environmental leaders to grow a greener and more equitable Somerville by shopping at BE Boston-Somerville.

The Inner Pup
In 2015, Genie and Lindsay Goldring founded The Inner Pup (TIP) (opens in new tab) with a plan for on-the-streets outreach and humane education in neighborhoods with little or no access to pet resources. Their mission is to advance equitable access to pet health, behavior and resources through community-driven programs. With help from the community and thousands of pet visits later, The Inner Pup has helped over 2,500 families! Make a difference in the lives of our furry friends at The Inner Pup by shopping at Buffalo Exchange New Orleans.
Reduce Waste Chicago
Working to empower residents to address climate change through waste reduction, Reduce Waste Chicago (opens in new tab) is a nonprofit organization that connects with people and organizations across the city. By hosting Reuse & Recycling Pop-Up events as well as sustainable markets, this exceptional organization is able to share crucial information about policies that make it easier for residents to reduce waste, hold producers accountable for the lifecycle of their products, and require governments to provide more environmentally-conscious services! Help support their work by shopping at BE Chicago-Wicker Park.

ShelterCare
With a vision to assist those in need in achieving independence and resilience, ShelterCare (opens in new tab) in Oregon’s Lane County helps provide housing programs and services to individuals and families who are experiencing, or on the verge of, homelessness. In 2024, ShelterCare helped nearly 800 people move forward on their journey toward stable housing. Living in the Pacific Northwest and want to help them in their mission to create compassionate housing in their community? Shop at Buffalo Exchange Eugene!
