Sellers Get Tokens, Too! Act of Kindness #39
Did you sell your closet cleanout at Buffalo Exchange between September 30th and October 6th? If so, give yourself a pat on the back for helping us complete our 39th Act of Kindness! As part of our 50th anniversary celebration, we wanted to show some extra love to the communities we call home — that’s why from 9/30-10/7, we expanded our Tokens for Bags® program to offer tokens to sellers, too. Unfamiliar with Tokens for Bags? Here’s a quick explainer: instead of single-use plastic bags, we offer customers a 5¢ token with their purchase that they can donate to one of three non-profits in their area. Since 1994, Tokens for Bags has kept over 19.25 million bags from piling up at a landfill or littering our streets, while raising more than $962,840 for thousands of local charities. Check out just a few of the incredible organizations we’re proud to support below!
Growing Community Gardens of Tucson at BE Tucson
The Community Gardens of Tucson promotes sustainable agriculture and strengthens community connections through accessible garden spaces. Their mission focuses on enhancing food security while offering educational workshops and volunteer opportunities. The organization currently manages over 20 community gardens, serving more than 400 families and engaging hundreds of volunteers each year.
Helping our Furry Friends at BE Phoenix – Tempe
Friends for Life Animal Rescue is dedicated to rescuing and re-homing abandoned and neglected animals in Arizona. The organization rescues over 1,000 animals each year and offers various programs, including adoption services, spay/neuter assistance and outreach initiatives. Friends for Life aims to improve the lives of animals and find them loving homes. Now through December 31st, you can still shop at BE Phoenix – Tempe and help a furry friend at the same time!
Taking Flight at BE San Francisco – Mission District
Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoption works on rescuing and re-homing pigeons and doves. Their mission focuses on providing a safe haven for these birds while educating the public about their needs. The organization rescues hundreds of birds each year, offering adoption services, rehabilitation and outreach programs to raise awareness about the importance of pigeons and doves in our communities. If you didn’t make it in at the beginning of October, no need to ruffle your feathers: you can still shop at BE San Francisco – Mission District and help give these deserving birds a loving home!
Supporting EverFree at BE Fullerton
Everfree is committed to providing mental health support to individuals and families affected by trauma, grief and loss, offering resources like counseling, workshops and therapy animal services to over 1,000 clients. Nurturing Our Youth at BE New Orleans
Grow Dat Youth Farm is an education-centered nonprofit that cultivates the leadership potential of New Orleans-area young adults ages 15-24 through five different leadership programs. Their mission is to nurture a diverse group of young leaders through the meaningful work of growing food. Through our educational initiatives, sustainable farming practices and inclusive organizational culture, we contribute to a more equitable New Orleans. Support them by shopping at BE New Orleans!
