Meet Joe, Internal Marketing Coordinator

In a landscape of soulless corporate jobs, Joe was looking for something different – something more creative. He found exactly that at Buffalo. His average day is a smorgasbord of artistic tasks, from editing training videos to writing articles about the charities we support to creating fashion quizzes. “Work that you actually enjoy is a rare commodity,” he says, “so I’m grateful that I can wake up truly looking forward to what the day will bring.”

How did you start working here?

Atmosphere. In a landscape of soulless corporate jobs, I saw an oasis where I could potentially grow and flourish.

 

How did you become the Internal Marketing Coordinator?

I simply suggested it. Buffalo is a culture, so while our (then two-person) Marketing department was communicating that to customers, I thought I could tailor the message to employees.

Co-founder Spencer Block once told me that, regardless of what position I held, I’d always have a place here. Feeling that valued is key – and something I try to pass on to others today.

What does an average day look like for you?

Variety. Morning may find me editing a training video while the afternoon might serve up an article on charities we’re supporting followed by a fashion quiz for our employee app.

 

What do you love most about the job?

Work that you actually enjoy is a rare commodity, so I’m grateful that I can wake up truly looking forward to what the day will bring.

Favorite Buffalo find?

A co-worker steered me toward a pair of vintage H Bar C western shirts they knew I’d love. Closets always have room for a little thoughtfulness.
 

Something you’ve learned at Buffalo over the years?

Creativity is simply a ‘what if?’ mindset of thinking of things that don’t currently exist – and in that regard, anyone can be creative.

How have you seen secondhand grow in your time here?

It’s encouraging to see, with today’s more fluid wardrobes, secondhand become more accepted as the sustainable alternative it’s always been.

 

What in Buffalo’s future are you looking forward to?

People remembering to cherish that sense of discovery and community baked into the in-person shopping experience. Finding fun ways to express yourself will never go out of style.
