February Acts of Kindness

We’re celebrating 50 years of sustainable style by giving back to the communities we’re apart of with 50 Acts of Kindness throughout 2024! To kick off February, Buffalo Exchange Chicago Andersonville ran a clothing donation drive. Then, On February 11th, Buffalo Exchange Chelsea hosted a fundraising shopping event for the The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.  Buffalo Exchange Portland Hawthorne gave back by participating in a neighborhood clean up and, in Texas, Austinites came together to donate items to the SAFE Alliance at Buffalo Exchange Austin Guadalupe. Buffalo Exchange Costa Mesa rounded out the month by supporting Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County. See below for more details about each of these acts and the incredible organizations we worked with.

Kindness Act #4: Donation Drive at BE Chicago Andersonville

One out of every two children in Chicago is at risk of experiencing clothing insecurity. Cradles to Crayons provides more than 50,000 disadvantaged children a year with the essential items they need to thrive. A huge thank you to those who donated winter clothing, coats, boots, hats, gloves, scarves and pajamas for Cradles to Crayons at Buffalo Exchange Andersonville from January 29th through February 3rd! If you want to continue your support, check out their current needs and find a local drive today.

Kindness Act #5: Shop for a Cause at BE New York Chelsea

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center is a safe and affirming community center for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers to access lifesaving services and make meaningful connections. On February 11th from 6-8pm, Buffalo Exchange New York – Chelsea hosted a shopping event and donated 10% of the proceeds to The Center. The donation is being used to provide people the services they need to lead healthy, successful lives – like mental health services, economic advancement initiatives, recovery programs and youth services. Oregon State Representative, Rob Nosse, even joined in to help pick up trash around the neighborhood! Interested in helping keep Hawthorne beautiful? The Hawthorne Boulevard Business Association does monthly cleanups on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10am-12pm starting from Dairy Hill Ice Cream on 1428 SE 36th Ave. Bring your own gloves, pickers and 5 gallon buckets!

The SAFE Alliance exists to stop abuse through prevention, advocacy and comprehensive services for individuals, families and communities that have been affected by abuse.
